Walter P Gobell, 90, of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2019. He was born on December 16, 1928 to the late Walter P Gobell, Sr. and Mildred (Neckermann) Gobell in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Hirsch High School in 1947 and the University of Illinois in 1951 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He enlisted and served in the Army from 1955 to 1957. The majority of his career was spent at Honeywell in the Defense Systems Division as a Production Engineer. He was proud to obtain his Professional Engineering certification and work as a lead engineer on numerous projects. Walt retired from Honeywell in 1988 and enjoyed 15 years in sunny Green Valley, AZ with Bev. Walt was a member of the Green Valley Lions Club and Valley Presbyterian Church. Bev and Walt returned to Minnetonka to be closer to family. He was an active member of Faith Church for many years and served as an Elder. Walt enjoyed working on model trains and golfing. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Beverly Branch Gobell and his daughters, Julie (Karl) Townsend, Lisa (William) Dunsmoor, and Nancy (Mike) Madsen; six grandsons, Jacob Townsend, Benjamin (Trista) Dunsmoor, Jesse (Kely) Dunsmoor, Bradley (Alexis) Madsen, Levi (Deborah) Dunsmoor and Brian Madsen; and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, June 17 at 10 a.m. with a service of remembrance at 11 a.m. at Faith Church, 12007 Excelsior Blvd, Mtka 55343. Memorials preferred to Faith Church.
