Obituary for Barbara Jean "Barb" McMurtry (Bohlig)

McMurtry, Barbara Jean Age 86, of Eden Prairie passed away peacefully on July 10, 2019. Barb was born on December 4, 1932 in Minneapolis. She attended St. Louis Park grade school and high school, and after her graduation from high school in 1950, took some classes at the University of Minnesota. Barb loved art and math and was a voracious reader. She met her husband, Lyndon, at Archer Daniels Midland, where she ran the teletype center. Barb married Lyndon on August 26, 1955 and since married couples were not allowed to work together at Archer Daniels Midland, Barbara quit her job and became a homemaker. Barb's favorite trips were to Canada, Arizona, and the Bahamas. She also loved celebrating the Fourth of July holiday with her children and grandchildren as an annual family tradition at Madden's resort in Brainerd, Minnesota. Barb was an active volunteer at Children's Hospital and a chairwoman for the organization's annual bazaar. Barb enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting and sewing along with several books a week. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Edith, brother Charles, and husband, Lyndon Lee McMurtry, and survived by her three children, Darcy (Jim) Hield, Bill (Carla) and John (Kristin) McMurtry, step daughter Barbara McMurtry, and grandchildren Charlie, Alex, Ashley, Kelsey, Ryley, and Ryan. Barb was a loving wife, mother, step mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She could always make you laugh with a witty reply and her unique pronunciation of things. She selflessly provided her family with many blessings and will always be appreciated for her cookie baking and incredible ability to fix any clothing item needing repair. She was a remarkably talented and intelligent individual and will truly be missed. A private ceremony is being planned. Huber Funeral & Cremation Services Excelsior Chapel 952-474-9595
