Obituary

McCarthy, Patrick K. “Pat”, was born in Duluth on August 31, 1955 and died peacefully on June 17, 2020 at home in Eden Prairie, with his family by his side, at the age of 64. Beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Pat was on the football, hockey and wrestling teams at Duluth Cathedral High School. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Superior Wis. and then became a claims adjuster for American Family Insurance. In 1980 Pat married his high school sweetheart, Therese Michelizzi. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing cards and spending time with his friends. Pat touched many lives with his gentle loving spirit and sense of humor. He lived each day to the fullest, always thinking of others and how to make them smile. Most important to Pat was his family and their well-being. Preceded in death by parents Robert Kenneth McCarthy and Ruth Janet (Creeden) McCarthy, sister-in-law Mary (Moll) McCarthy. Survived by wife Therese (Michelizzi) McCarthy (Eden Prairie), sons Kevin (Minneapolis), Michael (Eden Prairie), daughter Megan (Arden Hills), brothers Bob (Cheryl), Jack (Terri), Dan (Jeanne), Tim, Brian (Erica) and Tom (Patti), sister Mary (Jim) Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews. We extend our deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Brighton Hospice who provided loving care and brightened his days. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 PM Friday (6/26) at St. Hubert Catholic Community, 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen. Visitation 5-8:00 PM Thursday (6/25) at Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie. The family wishes to make this a safe funeral service so please wear face coverings and practice social distancing. Funeral Mass will be Live Streamed by St. Hubert Catholic Community at

So sorry to hear of Pat's passing. We were never bosom buddies, but we always remembered Pat.
It has been 53 years since Pat (and Brian) were altar boys at our wedding in Eveleth, MN on June 3,
1967. In fact, Bob and Janet helped us get our

We have not had a lot of contact with the McCarthy's since then, but we never forgot Pat and the McCarthy
clan... what an awesome family.

Rest in peace Pat.

The memories are so good. Many are like it was yesterday. Playing football in the triangle with all the McCathy brothers was epic. Pat and I would be fine until Bobby, Danny and Jackie would show up. That was some of our earliest pain! We drove to Florida in the yellow Lemans. We couldnt believe how warm it was. We were only to Chicago! Clueless. We worked the midnight shift busing tables at Wings together.. That was a real treat! (Yuck) All the dances and nights out.The endless trips to Coney Island. It was as much fun to watch Pat eat his as it was to eat my own! We would laugh all night. We would return to the McCarthy basement, hit up the milk machine, maybe have a scuffle with Tim or Vad aka Brian ,over the basement, and proceed to listen to Crimson and Clover 50 times while Pat would talk
about Therese all night. Yes Therese ..He loved you at first sight and never stopped talking about you. I remember we had some wine stached on the hill at Fond Du Lac. After a few trips down I remember Pat rolling all the way from the top of hill to the bottom. He had water on the knee for years after that outing. I'll stop now, getting very sad. Such a good person, friend. husband, and father. I am sad to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to Therese and all of the McCarthy family. May God Bless and keep his soul. He will be greatly missed.

Thanks Dan for sharing those wonderful memories. I know his memories of those happy times sustained him in his later years. Pat never lost that fun loving spirit.. I was blessed beyond words to be his wife and share his life.
